Kozlov to face Chung in B12s singles final
Hyeon Chung (KOR) and Stefan
Kozlov (USA) are set to face off Friday morning
to determine the 2008 Eddie Herr Boys 12s
Singles Champion.
To earn his spot in the finals, Chung defeated
Thanasi Kokkinakis [1] AUS 7-6(2), 6-2 in one of
today’s semifinals; Kozlov beat Geonju Shin (KOR)
6-4, 6-1 in the other.
Pratt and Cascino advance to G12s singles
final
In today’s G12s semifinal action,
Simone Pratt (1) (BAH) and Estelle Cascino (FRA)
each secured a place in Friday’s G12s singles
final.
Pratt advanced by prevailing over Ksenia
Laskutova (RUS) 6-2, 2-6, 6-4; Cascino rallied
to capture a 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory over Domenica
Gonzalez (ECU).
Milojevic upsets Gardiner to advance to
quarterfinals of B14s
Nikola Milojevic [14] (SRB)
dominated Tyler Gardiner [1] USA 6-1, 6-2 to
advance to the quarters in B14s singles.
Milojevic will meet Yuki Muramatsu [11] (JPN)
who closed out Karim Hossam [8] (EGY) 6-4, 6-4.
In other action in that division, Pedro
Guimaraes [4] (BRA) defeated Johannes Schretter
[13] (AUT) 6-4, 6-5, He will face Filip Peliwo
[Q] (CAN) in the quarters; Peliwo edged by
Mitchell Krueger [12] (USA) today 6-4, 5-7, 7-5.
Americans Robert Livi and Alexios Halebian are
also set to battle in B14s quarterfinal action.
Livi defeated Maksim Kan (UZB) 6-4, 5-7, 7-5;
Halebian beat Trey Daniel (USA) 6-2, 6-3. The
other quarterfinal in that division will pit
John Richmond [5] (USA) against Daniel Santos
[2] (PER). Richmond toughed out a 6-7(3), 7-5,
6-3 win over Peda Krstin [10] (SRB). Santos
advanced by stopping Ilya Ivashka (BLR) 6-4,
6-4.
Watson takes out
Mladenovic in G18s; advances to quarters
Heather Watson (GBR) put Kristina Mladenovic [2]
(FRA) out of the singles G18s tournament today,
6-7(5), 6-3, 6-2; in doing so, she earned a
place in Friday’s G18s quarterfinals. Watson
will play Yana Buchina [6] (RUS), who advanced
6-2, 7-6(5) over Beatrice Capra [11] (USA).
In another G18s upset, Monika Tumova (CZE)
scored a lopsided win over Beatrice Gumylya [4]
(INA) 6-2, 6-1. Tumova advances to the
quarterfinals, where she will battle Sophie Oyen
(BEL). Oyen advanced today by surviving a close
one against Alexandra Cercone (WC) (USA) 2-6,
7-6(3), 7-5.
Zarina Diyas [3] (KAZ), who is now the highest
G18 seed remaining, needed three sets to dismiss
Martina Borecka [16] (CZE) today. Diyas will
meet Iveta Dapkute (LTU) in the quarters;
Dapkute prevailed over Stephanie Cornish (GBR) 6-4, 6-7(3),
6-3.
Nicole Bartnik (USA), who dismissed the number
one G18s seed yesterday, continued her win
streak today, with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Annie
Mulholland [WC] (USA). In the quarters Bartnik
will meet Lauren Embree [9] USA who beat Valeria
Solovieva [8] (RUS) 7-5, 6-0.
