The 2006 Eddie Herr B14 doubles championship is awarded to the Argentinian team of Andrea Collarini and Augustin Portis, who registered a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Joao Fernandes [3] (BRA) and David Souto [3] (VEN) in the finals. Matt Reid [2] (AUS) and Jason Zafiros [2] (USA) took the B16 doubles title without breaking a sweat when Andres Bucaro [3] (GUA) and Ty Trombetta [3] (USA) were no-shows for the final match.

In the G14 doubles finals, Diana Marcinkevica [2] (LAT) and Hanna Orlik [2] (BLR) defeated Denisa Allertova and Veronika Zavadska, both of the Czech Republic, 6-1, 6-1 to become champions.

Jaklin Alawi [1] and Tanya Raykova [1] bested Americans Brooke Bolender and Maria Fuccillo 6-3, 6-3 to take the G16 doubles crown home to Bulgaria.

The 16s mixed doubles title was earned by Mary Clayton (USA) and Matt Reid (AUS) who scored an 8-3 pro set win over Alessandra Bonte (ITA) and Jason Zafiros (USA) in the finals.

Sirana-Mihaela Cirstea

Radwanska to Battle Cirstea in G18 Finals

Urszula Radwanska [4] (POL) dominated Anastasia Pivovarova [8] (RUS) 6-1, 6-2 in the semi-finals to win a berth in the G18 final. Radwanska will face second seed Sorana-Mihaela Cirstea (ROM) who defeated Tamaryn Hendler (BEL) 6-4, 7-5 in other semi-final match.

Yasmin Clarke (14)

Tanya Raykova [1] (BUL) outlasted Ester Goldfeld (USA) 7-6(4), 6-7(3), 6-2 in the G16 semi-final match and Yasmin Clarke [14] (GBR) beat Nicole Bartnik (WC) (USA) 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 in the other semi. Raykova and Clarke will square off in the finals Sunday at 10:30 am.

The G14 title, also slated for Sunday at 10:30 am, will be decided between Hanna Orlik [3] (BLR) and Ajla Tomljanovic [9] (CRO). Orlik defeated Katarena Paliivets [1] (CAN) 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-0 in the semis; Tomljanovic thwarted Alina Jerjomina (LAT) 7-5, 6-0.

Philip Bester (WC)

Big Serves, Big Shots, Big Guys; Bester Wins in Three

Raw power was the currency in the B18 semi-final showcasing Philip Bester (WC) (CAN) and Pavel Chekhov [4] (RUS). The much-heralded contest, which was a repeat of the pairing in the 2002 Eddie Herr B14 final, lived up to its billing. The three-set battle produced a barrage of booming serves and explosive ground strokes. Although power was the hallmark of the match, both players also displayed beautifully timed and executed touch shots. After trading sets, Bester broke Chekhov in the third game to serve at 2-1. That one break ultimately became the difference, as Bester advances 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.

Number one B18 seed Nicholas Santos (BRA) also needed three sets to secure a place in the finals. Santos defeated Rasid Winklaar (AHO) 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the other semi. He will face Bester in the finals Sunday at 9:00 am.

In a very close B16 semifinal match, Devin Britton [10] eked out a victory over fellow American Alex Domijan 7-6(5), 7-6(5); Grigor Dimitrov [2] (BUL) got the better of Ilija Vucic [3] (SCG) 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-1 in the other semi in this division. Britton and Dimitrov will vie for the B16 title Sunday at 9:00 am.

The B14 final, also set for Sunday at 9:00 am, features Ashot Khacharyan [5] (RUS) versus Yasutaka Uchiyama [3] (JPN). Khacharyan prevailed over Dominik Schulz [11] (GER) 6-3, 7-5 in the semis; Uchiyama bested Federico Gaio [9] (ITA) 6-4, 7-6(1).
