Kovalets/Ren Win 2006 G12s Doubles Title, DiGiulio/Kwiatkowski Take B12s Doubles Honors

The 2006 B12 title was earned by the American team of Joseph Di Giulio and Thai Kwiatkowski (R) who defeated Kazuma Kawachi and Yu Okuda, both of Japan, 6-4, 6-4.	Sophia Kovalets (UKR) and Jessica Ren (GBR) were crowned the 2006 Eddie Herr G12 doubles champions today, defeating Americans Victoria Duval and Julia Jones 6-4, 6-3 in the finals.

Play today was marked by upsets in several divisions. B18 qualifier Jeff Dadamo (USA) ended Danil Arsenov's [8] (RUS) tournament hopes with a three-set win, 7-6(4), 3-6, 6-1. In the same division, wild card Philip Bester (CAN) dismissed Fernando Romboli [14] (BRA), 6-2, 6-1.

In the B16s, Gilad Ben Zvi [14] (ISR) triumphed over Alex Llompart [1] (PUR) 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-3 and unseeded Giorgio Portaluri (ITA) dominated Adrian Skogeng [15] (NOR) 6-1, 6-1.

Girl's action was marked by upsets, as well. In G18s, Julia Cohen [1] (USA) was excused 6-3, 7-5 by Katerina Kramperova [14] (CZE) and Kimberly Couts [13] (USA) scored a 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 victory over Katerina Vankova [3] (CZE). Unseeded Ester Goldfeld (USA) earned a 3-6, 7-6(3), 6-2 win over Stephanie Cornish [3] (GBR) in the G16s. In the G14s, unseeded Jenny Falcone (USA) toughed out a three-setter to topple Andrea Konjuh [12] (CRO) 6-2, 3-6, 7-6(10) and unseeded Sloane Stephens eked out a 7-6(4), 7-6(6) win over fellow American Elizabeth Begley [16].

Correction: Pavel Chekhov [4] (RUS) defeated Gastao Elias [13] (POR) today 2-6, 7-6(1), 6-4 in the B18s. Chekhov is the 2002 Boys 14 Eddie Herr champion; he was inadvertently omitted from yesterday's article regarding past champions.
