Second-day action absent of upsets

BRADENTON - No major upsets were reported Tuesday during the second day of the Eddie Herr International Junior Tournament at the Bollettieri Sports Academy.
Virginie Razzano of France, the top-seed in the girls 18s draw, breezed through her first round match, defeating Melissa Torres of Mexio in straight sets, 6-0. 6-0.
The third seed in the draw, Cheli Bar Gil of Israel, wasn't so fortunate, however. She was ousted in the first round by Natalie Mikolich of the United States 6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-2.
The No. 2 seed in the girls 18s, Daniela Bedanova of Czechoslovakia, beat Lauren Barnikow of the United States 6-1, 7-5.
In the boys 14s, Nikolay Soloviev of Russia defeated Gianfranco Dossena of Italy 6-7 (3), 7-6 (3) 6-1 in what might very well have been the match of the day.
Chile's Jorge Aguilar, the third seed in the draw, beat Rayne Russell of Jamaica 6-0, 6-2.
Sue Wei Hsieh (Taipei), the top-seed in the girls 14s, had little trouble with Helen Fritche (Great Britain) - Fritche failed to show for the match.
Maryori Franco, the eighth-seed from Colombia, lost her opening round match in the girls 14s, losing to Maria Sharapova of Russia, 6-0, 6-0.
On the local front - Dillon Brozyna of Bradenton, beat Marc Spicijaric of Wesley Chapel 6-7 (4), 6-0, 6-1 in the boys 14s round of 64.
Bradenton's Jamea Jackson defeated Shuai Peng (China) 6-1, 7-6 (2), 6-3 in her first round match in the girls 14s. Liberty Svekis of Sarasota rallied for a 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 victory against Annabelle Weigert (Germany).
Kelly Handyman of Bradenton, the 16th seed in the girls 16s, beat Guria Oussanova of Russia 6-2, 6-3.
Leigh Shelton of Bradenton advanced to the round of 32 in the girls 16s with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 win against Jane O'Donoghue (Greart Britain).
